Ann Garofalo

Ann R. Garofalo, 96, formerly of Norwich, and more recently of Liverpool, NY, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at her Liverpool residence.
Born in Norwich on February 26, 1918, Ann was the daughter of Felix and Angelina (Sidote) DeLorenzo. Until recently, Ann was a lifelong resident of Norwich, and graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1935. After graduating, Ann worked at the M & H Fishman Co. for 10 years, then at the Wellwood Ribbon Factory. Beginning in 1963, and through to her retirement in 1980, Ann worked at the Chenango County Automobile Bureau, where she completed her service as the bureau’s supervisor.
On September 18, 1948, at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Ann married George J. Garofalo, who predeceased her on March 22, 2006, after 57 years of marriage. Ann is survived by a daughter, Sharon Hundley, and her husband, George, of Auburn; a son, Joseph Garofalo, and his wife, Christine, of Cicero; five grandchildren, Deborah (Nick) Pascarelli, Christopher Hundley, Carolyn (Michael) Cardinell, Brian (Jill) Garofalo and Theresa (Nick) Price; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Brianna, Katherine, Zachary, Morgan, Tristan and McKenna. Ann’s sister, Mrs. Gerard (Lee) Mirabito, also survives. In addition to her husband, Ann was predeceased by her sister, Jennie M. Paino, brother, Frank DeLorenzo, and great-grandson, Dylan Cardinell.
Ann was an active member of St. Paul’s Church, and a member of both the Altar and Rosary Societies. After retirement, Ann and her husband took great pleasure at spending their winter months together in West Palm Beach, FL. She also enjoyed creating many handcrafted items through her sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also loved to read. Ann most of all enjoyed time spent with her family and her grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ann will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at St. Paul’s Church where Rev. Ralph Bove, pastor, will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Burial will immediate follow the Mass at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
