Edward Ulfik Iii


Edward J. Ulfik, III of Oxford passed away on March 31, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton. He was born on April 8, 1980 in Meadowbrook, NY the son of the late Edward J. Ulfik, Jr. and Catherine Hughes Ulfik.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine Ulfik; his sister, Elizabeth Ulfik; his fiancé, Tiffani Rombach and her children Addison and Dillon; his uncle and aunt, Chris and Alison Hughes and children, Christopher, Alicia, Angelo, and Kaitlyn; his cousins, Kristy Lynn and James Scarabeno and children, James, Anthony and Joseph. He is also survived by his godmother, Elaine Velten and her husband, Jim; special friends Ashley and Rob Bartholl; his beloved dogs, Jaxon and Molly and many, many friends.
EJ or Big Ed, as he was known by his family and friends, was an honors graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School. He was a member of the Oxford Fire Department Explorers prior to joining the Oxford Fire Department and Emergency Squad, where he was currently serving as 1st Lieutenant in the emergency squad. He was also a member of the Chenango Ambulance Co. where he was also a Lieutenant. He was a New York State certified AEMT-CC. He attended many classes through the NYS Academy of Fire Science and FEMA Emergency Management Institute. He graduated from the Otsego County Law Enforcement Academy in Oneonta in 2006. He was a former Public Safety Dispatcher for the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. He served the Town of New Berlin Police Department for more than 5 years and most recently the Village of Oxford Police Department for the past 7 years. He was a Gatekeeper and known by his friends as All County Ed.
Funeral services will be held at the Oxford Fire Department, 20 Main St., Oxford, NY on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jay Zaremba officiating.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Members of the Oxford Fire Department will call at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.
