Frank Hitchcock


Frank L. Hitchcock, Jr., 60, of Niles Road, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, in the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, where he had been a patient for the past twelve days.
Born in Milford, Connecticut on September 8, 1953, he was the son of Frank L. and Claire Schneider Hitchcock, Sr. A resident of the area from the time he was a teenager, Frank was educated in Milford schools. He married Mary Soule in Georgetown Baptist Church on December 21, 1974.
For the past nineteen years, Frank had been employed with the New York State Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator and had formerly been employed with the Town of Georgetown Highway Department. He was a member of Georgetown Fire Department, where he has served as the assistant chief and chief for more than ten years, the Sons of the American Legion Sylvan Beach Post #1153, the Red Knights Motorcycle Club (fire service related), the American Legion Riders in Sylvan Beach, the Central New York Firemen’s Association and the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY). Frank enjoyed camping, hunting, motorcycling and most importantly, his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Nicole and Duane DeNeef of Sodus and Marcie and David Soule of Plymouth; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank L. and Patricia Hitchcock III of Eaton; ten grandchildren; his mother, Claire Hitchcock of Norwich; three sisters, one brother and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Sunday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida. Spring interment will be made in Hillside Cemetery, Georgetown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-6PM, Saturday.
