DAVID L. WALLING
GREENE – David L. Walling of Greene passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1954 in Norwich a son of Llewellyn and Barbara (White) Walling.
He is survived by his father, Llewellyn Walling of Greene; his brothers, Daniel Walling of Waverly and Dennis Walling of Johnson City; his sister, Donna Schalk of Greene and his best friend, David Melville of Greene. He was predeceased by his mother Barbara Walling in 2012.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
David was a huge fan of NASCAR. He enjoyed reading, especially science fiction books. He also liked to go hiking and bicycling. He was a human computer when it came to solving math problems. He graduated from Greene Central School in 1972 and attended Mohawk Valley Community College. He also attended Toccoa Falls Bible College in Georgia and later became an ordained minister. He was the executive director of the Rescue Mission in Riverton, Wyoming for many years.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church, South Chenango St., Greene with Rev. Jay Zaremba, pastor officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kennedy Funeral Home, 21 N. Chenango St., Greene, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.kennedyfuneral@frontiernet.net.
