FRANCES CHAPIN
Enterprise, OR – Frances Chapin, 74, died peacefully on February 14, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Oregon.
Born March 15, 1939, in Norwich, Frances was the daughter of Dr. Wayland and Marjorie (Prisha) Mason. She attended Norwich City schools, and graduated as an honor student with the Class of 1956. She went on to attend the University of Buffalo where she met her husband, Lewis G. Chapin, Jr. Frances completed her education having earned a master’s degree in Historic Housing from Fairleigh-Dickinson University, and later taught American history at Cape Cod Community College.
Frances and Lewis lived in New Jersey, Cape Cod and Virginia. Lewis predeceased Frances in 1986.
Frances restored four historic homes, two located in Virginia and two located in Cape Cod. She also loved nothing more than to drive across the country with her beloved Irish Setter, Gipper, and seeing her beautiful America. Frances was very bright, talented, respected and loved by everyone who knew her.
Frances is survived by daughters, Dr. Kim Chapin, of Rhode Island; Christa (Glen) Caron, of Northborough, MA; and Michelle Chapin, of Enterprise, OR. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and her beloved Gipper. In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was predeceased by her twin sisters, June and Ginger.
To honor Frances wishes, there will be no funeral services.
