Elsie Eltz


Elsie M. Eltz, 77, of Ransom Avenue, died Thursday morning, February 20, 2014 in the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks.
Born in Monticello, on March 23, 1936, she was the daughter of E. Lynn and Elsie Gerow Norris. A resident of the area since 1978, Elsie was educated and graduated from Montgomery High School. She married Vernon L. Eltz in Newburgh on November 7, 1952. Mr. Eltz died January 22, 2004.
Prior to her retirement, Elsie was employed with the New York State Thruway Authority. She was a member of the Oneida Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Eltz enjoyed time in Brooksville, Florida in the winter together, and Elsie enjoyed Syracuse University basketball, NASCAR and especially spending time with her family.
Surviving are, three daughters and two sons-in-law, June and Douglas Georgia of Norwich, Judy and Gene Bleecker of Canastota and Jeanne Sichra of Sherrill; one son and his partner, John C. Eltz and Debra Yaro of Morris; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene L. and Nancy Norris, Jr. of Fayetteville, Georgia; six grandchildren, Christy Sayko Lamberton, Tera McIntyre Dutkiewicz, Tracy McIntyre DeLuke, Jennifer Eltz, Alicia Eltz and Logan Eltz; TJ Maclay, her granddaughter’s widower; six great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Cory Lamberton, Aiden and Parker Dutkiewicz, Kaiya Maclay and Nicholas DeLuke; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jessica Shackelton Maclay.
Funeral services will be 1 PM, Monday from the Oneida Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Hast, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church, 11 AM to 1 PM, Monday, prior to the funeral service. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to the Oneida Baptist Church, 242 Main Street, Oneida, NY 13421, the Sherrill-Kenwood Fire Department 373 Sherrill Rd, Sherrill, NY 13461 or the Siegenthaler Center, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
