HELEN BURLINGAME
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Helen “Wanda”’ Burlingame, 94, of South New Berlin, passed away Friday evening, Jan. 10, 2014, at her home in South New Berlin.
Wanda was born in Norwich on July 10, 1919 the daughter of Claude and Mabel Marvin Rathbone. She was raised in the Chenango County area and has made her home in South New Berlin for the past 50 years. In her early working career she had worked as a waitress in Norwich and for 24 years was employed by the Broome Developemental Center as a caregiver.
Wanda was a person who loved people in general as well as her animals. She was a kind hearted sole who always had a comment. A very caring and giving individual, she always saw the humor in everything and was tough to embarass.
Wanda is survived by her daughters Debra Miles of Sherburne, Kandase Burlingame of South New Berlin, her son LeRoy Gale and wife Dottie of Ormond Beach, FL, her sisters Edna and Mary, her brother Claude “Sonny” and several grand and great grandchildren.
Wanda was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Burlingame in Oct of 1973.
Services for Wanda will be private and at the convenience of the family.
