Joan C. Davis


Joan C. Davis, 73, of State Highway 80, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Chenango Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility in Norwich.
She was born September 20, 1940 in Manlius, a daughter of John and Nettie Moyer Baum and was a graduate of Georgetown High School in 1958. On June 13, 1959, Joan married Warren C. Davis, Sr. in the Lebanon Federated Church. They resided in Smyrna until 1964, moving to Oxford until 1987, and then to Sherburne. Warren predeceased her on January 11, 1997. Joan was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a member of the Smyrna Knitting Club, and her favorite hobbies included crocheting, playing bingo and doing puzzles. She and Warren enjoyed traveling around the United States by car for many years.
Surviving are her children, Helen and Timothy Hagen of Norwich; Doreen Davis of Oxford; Nichole Davis-Cole and Thomas Cole of Edmeston; Roy Davis of Norwich and Warren Davis, Jr. of Sherburne; her beloved grandchildren, Katie Hagen, Jackie Hagen, Ryan Hagen, Amber Davis and Austin Davis, all of Norwich; Kamrie Davis of Oxford; Madison Cole and Conor Cole, both of Edmeston; her siblings, Donald and Terri Baum of PA; Juanita and Jack Mulligan of Lebanon; Jerold and Viola Baum of KY; Lorene and Ted Unger of Earlville; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her faithful and dear friend, Patricia Burnezky of Hamilton. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Brittany Ann Davis; brothers, Ronald, Bill and Clyde Baum; and sisters, Viola Dwelly, Joyce Campbell, Janice Shawl, Lovisa Picciano and Janet Ladd.
In keeping with her wishes, services are private at the convenience of her family.
There are no calling hours.

Joan’s family wishes to thank the staff of the RHCF and Hospice for the great care given to her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
