FREDERICK HILL
NORWICH – Frederick L. Hill, 72, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at his home with his family at his side.
Fred was born at home in Norwich on Feb. 13, 1941 the son of Frederick and Mary Muserallo Hill. He grew up in Norwich and was a 1960 graduate of the Norwich High School. For a short period of time he worked for the Norwich Shoe Co. before entering the United States Army in 1963 where he was a radio relay operator. He also served some time in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1965. In 1966 Fred began a 47 year career with GLA and all of it’s successors where it was common knowledge of his dedication to the company.
Fred loved bowling as a past-time and had bowled in many of the city’s leagues for over 47 years. In 1994 he was inducted into the Norwich Bowling Hall of Fame and had also be the recipient of many other awards and trophies.
On Oct. 15, 1993 Fred married Susan Faulkner who survives.
Besides his wife Sue of Norwich, Fred is survived by his children Mark (Amy) Hill of New Berlin, Todd Hill of Sherburne, Marinda and Karlie Hill both of Norwich and his grandchildren Owen and Phalen Hill of New Berlin. Also surviving are his brothers Louis Hill of Chardon, OH, Kenneth (Diane) Knickerbocher of Sherburne, Karl Knickerbocher of Binghamton, his sister Karen (Wesley) Searle of Johnson City, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and father-in-law Frank Faulkner.
Fred was predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary, his sister and brother-in-law Lenora and Harold Oliver, sister-in-law Karen S. Hill and his mother-in-law Frinda Faulkner.
A funeral service for Fred will be held on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Nancy Hale, Pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church of Norwich will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
