MAXINE G. BROOKS
SMYRNA – Maxine G. Brooks, 77, of Flat Iron Rd., passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL.
She was born June 15, 1936 in Plymouth, NY, a daughter of Grant A. and Grace Whitmore Whaley and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On December 20, 1958, Maxine married Clarence G. Brooks in Norwich. He predeceased her on June 28, 2004. Maxine worked at Champion Products in Norwich until her retirement. After her retirement, Maxine enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
Surviving are her companion, Leonard Blackman, a son and daughter-in-law, James and Sherry Brooks of Smyrna, daughter, Sandra Lee “Grit” Brooks of Watkins Glen; grandchildren, Briana, Jordan and Kaylee Brooks, and Megan Marvin; two sisters, Ruby Bassett of Smyrna; Lela Brooks of Norwich; a brother Grant Whaley of Plymouth; sisters in law, Bernice and Marie Whaley both of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Helen Curns and four brothers, Herbert, Allie, Howard and Gerald Whaley.
Graveside services will be held at the West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne in the spring. Date and time will be announced.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
