EDNA MAE KIRK
SHERBURNE – Edna Mae Kirk, 90, of Route 12, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born January 3, 1923 in North Norwich, a daughter of Herbert J. and Gertrude Mowers Hicks and received her education in local schools. On November 16, 1955, Edna married Daniel J. Kirk, Sr. in North Norwich. He predeceased her on January 7, 2012. Edna was a homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family. She loved baking, knitting and making hooked rugs. She was fond of flowers, and enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds. In the fall months, she and Daniel loved to take trips around the countryside to view the scenery.
Surviving are her children, Lillian Hicks of Sherburne; Daniel, Jr. and LuAnn Kirk of Greene; and Bernard Kirk of Sherburne; seven grandchildren, including a favorite grandson, Keith Kirk of Greene, eighteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Conway Hicks; daughter-in-law, Michelle Will; sister, Ruth Ryan; and brother, Herbert J. Hicks, Jr.
Private graveside services will be held in the North Norwich Cemetery in the spring.

Edna’s family wishes to thank the Norwich Rehab. 2nd Floor nurses, CNA’s and staff, especially Lorie, Nicole, Amanda, and Kim for their compassion and the great care given to her during her stay there.
