Leonard Van Stevens, 70, entered into eternal rest on November 13, 2013. Although originally from Chenango County, he had resided in Hampton, Virginia since 1987. Leonard served three tours in Vietnam with Army Airborne. He was a plumber by trade, an avid gardener, and a diehard NY Giants fan. Leonard was from one of the largest families in Chenango County. He was a loving brother, devoted uncle, and loyal friend.
He is predeceased by his father, Herbert Burt Stevens, mother, Cora Donnelly Stevens, sisters Linda Stevens, Janet Leech, and Carrie Lincoln, brothers, Percy and Harold Stevens, nieces, Brenda, Lisa, Becky, and Sue, and nephews, Raymond and Billy. Leonard is survived by his sisters, Diana Bennett (Billy), Kaye Dalton (Gary), his twin sister Leona Brown, Rita Stevens (Ken), Retha Beckwith (Moe), Dorothy Marrone (Carl), Doris Parshall (Les), and Catherine Come, and brothers, Norman (Pat), Herbert, and Hubert Stevens, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leonard was loved and cherished by many. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
