David Manzer


David L. Manzer, 74, a life long resident of the Norwich and Oxford area, passed away early Sunday morning, Nov. 17, 2013, in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Dave was born in Oxford on Feb. 4, 1939 the son of Oliver and Jean Onyan Manzer. He was a graduate of the Oxford High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. In his ealry working years, Dave worked for a brief period of time for the FBI and NYSEG. He then gained employment with Norwich-Eaton where he worked for 31 years retiring in 1989 as Manager of Professional Services and Medical Meeting Consultant.
In his spare time, Dave enjoyed many activities. He was an excellent bowler having bowled in many of the City’s leagues both at Brown Ave. and Plaza Lanes, was also a member of the men’s slow pitch softball team, enjoyed a good game of shuffleboard, was part of the Civil War Roundtable and a member of the Rolling Antiquers Car Club. He had also served for 13 years as Town of Norwich Justice.
On July 28, 1962 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Oxford he married Lucille Baker who survives. Besides his wife Lucille of Norwich, he is survvied by his daughters Laurie Reiss of NC, Nancy Gingerich of Norwich and Valerie Wright also of Norwich, his sister Cynthia Northrup of NY and brother John Manzer and wife Shirley of Palantine Bridge. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dave will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 12:00 Noon from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Oxford. The Rev. David Hanselman, Rector, will officiate along with The Rev. Bruce MacDuffie.
There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are with the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home.
