Andrew Miner


NORWICH – Andrew L. Miner, 50, of Norwich, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009, at his home.
The son of Clifford and Irene Furgison Miner, Andy was born in Andes in September of 1958. He was a graduate of the Bainbridge-Guilford school, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served his country from March of 1979 through May of 1981. During his stint in the military, Andy suffered an injury which impacted the rest of his life. Returning home with his honorable discharge, he worked for various employers, including Norwich Aero Products, Kenyon Press, the CWS and Gladding Corporation. He was extremely involved in the local Toys for Tots program and was the current treasurer of the Marine Corps League. He like to read and play cards and was an avid collector of anything. Devoted to his family, Andy enjoyed helping any of them in any way he could.
Andy is survived by his sisters: Cheryl Hernandez of Edmeston, Mardel Miner of Fredericksburg, Va., Kim Miner of Norwich and Rosanna Lindsey and husband Raymond of Norwich. He is also survived by his brothers, Gerald and Clifford Miner of Florida, his uncle Rodney Furgison of Norwich, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and his two cats Tinkerbelle and Trixey. He was predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Irene, and his sister, Connie Carrier.
Services for Andy will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Reese, pastor of the Columbus Community Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
