NORWICH – Margaret A. Sayles, 55, of Binghamton, and formerly of Norwich, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 7, 2009.
Born in Norwich, she was the daughter of Frederick and Cathleen (Collins) George. Margaret spent her early years in Preston and attended Oxford schools. She was married to James Sayles of Norwich.  She was employed at Chenango Memorial Hospital, then by Howard Johnson’s in Norwich until her health forced her to retire.
Margaret is survived by her sons Scott George, James A. Sayles, Jr. of Binghamton, Otis J. Sayles of Norwich and a daughter, Kathleen Sayles of Binghamton.  Also surviving are her brothers Frederick, Douglas and James George; her sisters Donna Green and Harriet Janneh; her grandchildren, including Madison and Ryllie Sayles, Brianna and Darius Watson, and Shailee, Mariah, Ijiah and James Sayles; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Margaret was an avid gardener, and loved working outdoors.  She was working in her neighborhood with plants the day she passed.  Margaret was especially proud to attend President Obama’s inauguration in January.
Funeral services for Margaret will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from noon until the time of the service. There will be a time of fellowship following the committal at Wyler Park in Norwich.
