Scott Franco


OXFORD – Scott Lewis Franco, 28, of Oxford, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at his home. 
He was born on June 2, 1981 and placed into the loving hands of his parents, John and Susan (Lewis) Franco, who survive.
Scott was raised in Oxford and graduated with honors from Oxford Academy and Central School in 2000. He attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Theater Arts. Scott was a prolific songwriter and versatile musician and was recognized as such by being awarded the William Weston Prize in Performing Arts at his Brown graduation.
Scott was a young man blessed with many talents. He loved entertaining and thrilled many with his quick tapping feet, his glorious voice, and his beautiful piano renditions. He performed in numerous church, school, and community productions throughout his life. The highlight of his theatrical career came in 1999 when he completed an eight week run, to rave reviews, in the play “Annie” with the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence.
Scott had deep convictions, a loving and giving heart, and incredible compassion for those less fortunate. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
Besides his parents, Scott is survived by his brother Matthew, Stockbridge, Mass., whom he loved deeply. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Betty Lewis, New York State Veterans’ Home, and his aunts and uncles: Patricia and Carl Houghton, Anne Franco, Kathryn Franco,  New Berlin; Joe and Mary Franco, Tustin, Calif., Angelo and Carol Franco, Ithaca, Gerry and Rebecca Franco, Oxford and Willard and Mary Lewis, Forest City, N.C. Many cousins and dear friends also survive.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, State St, Oxford.  Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Main St. in Oxford on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice that provides aid to people in need.
