Chloe Deforest


NORWICH – Chloe Marie DeForest, 82, of Norwich, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who truly enjoyed her family, Chloe was the daughter of the late Jay Curry and Lena Ferguson Curry Holt. She was born in February of 1927 in Morris, where she grew up and attended the local schools. Following her high school graduation, at the age of 17, Chloe moved to Norwich. Over her years of residence, she held jobs with the Norwich Shoe Company and Norwich Pharmacal Company, then worked as a waitress for the Valley House Hotel and later as a caregiver through Eldercare. Chloe was a fun-loving lady who enjoyed having a good time. She enjoyed country music and traveling to Tennessee, and was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary, Norwich VFW, Christy Rock Post 2782.
Chloe is survived by her children and their spouses: Carol and Francis Maiurano of Norwich, Marion and James Taranto of Indiatlantic, Fla.; Edwin Sharpe, John Sharpe, and Daniel and Jean Sharpe, all of Norwich; her step-son, Bill Liberatore of Virginia, and son-in-law, Gary Osborne of Homosassa, Fla. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters and their spouses: James and Irene Curry of Salem, N.H., Donald Curry of Milwaukee, Wisc., Betty Frink, Ruth Brown, Kathy and Jerry French, all of Norwich, and Helen Brown of New Berlin; her grandchildren: Steven Osborne, Brian Osborne and wife Elise, Mary Rose Maiurano, Teresa Trask and husband Shane, Laura Maiurano, Frank Maiurano and wife Erin, Angelo Maiurano and wife Christine, Carol Slater and husband David, James Taranto and wife DeeDee, Thomas Taranto and wife Jeanette, and Travis, Amanda, Chelsea, Colin, Dan, Ryan, and Adrienne Sharpe. Chloe is also survived by many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and her former husband, John Liberatore.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Connie Osborne; brothers Edwin and Edward, sister Dorothy, nieces Terry Brown Ashcraft and Diane Smith Hilley; nephew, Richard Frink; brothers-in-law: Leonard Brown, Marlin Brown, and William Frink; sisters-in-law, Kit and Cathy Curry; step-father, Donald Holt; and husbands Edwin Sharpe and Olin DeForest.
Graveside services for Chloe will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Hillington Cemetery of Morris. Chloe’s son-in-law, Jim Taranto, will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
Chloe’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Pearl and Everett Gilmour Health Care Facility for all the care she received.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
