Barbara Rich


CORTLAND – Barbara E. Rich (Hicks), 66, of Cortland, passed away July 2, 2009 at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.
She was born Sept. 10, 1942 in Homer, the daughter of the late Leonard & Eva Parker Hicks.
Barbara was an area resident most of her life, attending Homer Schools. She was employed at Crescent Corset until an injury prevented her from working. This enabled her to stay home to care for her family.
Barbara was a member of the Faith and Hope Christian Church. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, baking, and caring for her pet cats.  
She is survived by her daughter whom she lived with while battling cancer, Suzie Miller (Bush) of Norwich, sons Timothy Bush of Attica, James Bush of Wichita, Kansas, brothers Jimmie Hicks of Cortland, Luther Hicks of North Hampton, Pa., sister Isabelle Cordary of Cortland, several grandchildren including Jamey Lynn Wright, Joshua Nichols, several great grandchildren including Ethan & Connor Simonds, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband John Rich, brothers William, Leonard Jr., Willie, sisters Dora Hicks, and Sylvia Hicks Coville.
Calling hours will be 5:00-6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. William Haynes presiding. 
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 57 Front St., Binghamton NY , 13905.
