Susan Gray


NORTH NORWICH – Susan Gray, 56, of Charlotte, N.C., died Friday, June 19, 2009 at home.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1952 in North Norwich, and was the daughter of the late Donald Clifford Frink and the late Marcia Beatrice Gilladette. She was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville High School, Auburn Community College, and Oswego State University, all in upstate New York. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education at Nazareth College in Rochester. She was an Elementary and Special Education teacher at Macedon Elementary School, Macedon for 13 years and officially retired in March, 2008. Sue was a member of Myers Park Methodist Church, Charlotte, N.C.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 34-plus years, Richard C. Gray; loving daughter Melissa L. Gray and loving son Jeffrey R. Gray, all currently residing in Charlotte, N.C.; stepmother Bonnie Rae Bowes Frink of North Norwich; brother Donald J. Frink and his wife Cheryll of Oakdale, Conn.; brother Dennis J. Frink and his wife Linda of Webster Groves, Mo.; stepbrother Samuel Whaley and his wife Ruth of East Nassau; stepbrother Andy Whaley of McDonough; and many nephews and nieces.
Sue loved spending time with her family, friends, and pets. She loved being a wife, mother and teacher and researching family genealogy, finding four-leaf clovers, quilting, watching hummingbirds and reading.
A celebration of life service at First United Methodist Church, 99 South Street, Auburn, is scheduled on Sunday at 1 p.m. A similar service will be held at Myers Park United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte, N.C. on Wednesday, July 1 at 6:30 p.m. A reception will immediately follow both services. Interment will be at the Myers Park Methodist Church Columbarium and Memorial Garden at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or the Hospice organization in your home area.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Gary Frenette of Carolinas Hematology-Oncology, his staff and the many wonderful medical staff personnel she has encountered over her 16- year battle.
Services in Charlotte, NC are being coordinated by J.B. Tallent Funeral Service & Crematory. Services in Auburn are being coordinated by Robert D. Gray Funeral Home of Skaneateles.
