Pauline Chamberlain

NORWICH – Pauline Elizabeth “Betty” Walker Chamberlain, 76, formerly of Preston Manor, went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, June 9, 2009, in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home where she had resided for the past two years.
The daughter of George and Florence Harris Walker, Betty was born on May 30, 1933, in Oxford, where she grew up and attended the Oxford Academy and Central School. At the young age of 4, she contracted the measles, which led to meningitis. Despite her disability, Betty led a very productive life. She worked for a time at the Greene Hospital, and later as a home health aide for many local families. Her health had deteriorated during the past few years, which led to her move first to Preston Manor and, most recently, to Valley View Manor Nursing Home. Betty loved her Lord and her family.
When she was in her 20s, Betty married Jerry Chamberlain. She is survived by her son, Joe Chamberlain of Norwich; her sisters, Zelpha Chyz of Syracuse and Reva Sadler of Harpursville; and her brother, Frank Walker and wife Sylvia of Preston. Nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Jerry, her sister, Doris, and brother, Jess.
Memorial services for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Community Bible Fellowship Church, Rt. 206, Greene, New York. The Rev. Paul Walker, pastor of the Oswego Bible Baptist Church, and the Rev. Ed Maslin, pastor of the Community Bible Fellowship Church, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Warn TenBroeck Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
