She worked with the Minnesota Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to start a pen-pal program between Minnesota and Russian children. On June 1, 2006 she fulfilled her dream of traveling to Russia, visiting Yekaterinburg, Siberia, to assess diabetes treatment and education for kids and to get basic supplies to diabetic children.
Surviving are her father, James F. Earing of Sherburne; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sally A. and Paul Bucalo of Norwich; Carol A. Prentice of Sherburne; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James F. Earing, Jr. of Salida, Colo.; Philip J. and Penny Earing of Villa Grove, Colo.; a nephew, Nicholas; three nieces, Christie, Stephanie and Rebecca; a  grand nephew, Asher; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
