Lucy Bennett


PRESTON – Lucy E. Rudnitski Bennett, 44, of Preston, passed away Wednesday morning, June 3, 2009, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with her illness.
The daughter of Donald and Constance “Connie” Nadal Rudnitski, Lucy was born in Norwich in September of 1964 and spent most other life there. Growing up in Norwich, she attended the Norwich schools prior to joining with her sister, Barb, in providing day care. She also worked for Madman’s Video and Howard Johnson’s. Lucy loved children and animals. Never a negative, always a positive in everything, she was a gentle soul who loved the outdoors, especially when camping, gardening, or playing with son Carter at the creek.
Lucy is survived by her mom and step-dad, Connie and Glenn “Pops” Degear of Preston; her dad and step-mom, Donald and Rose Rudnitski of New Paltz; her children: Jessica Binelli Pittsley and husband Joe, Joseph Binelli, and Carter Rudnitski, all of Norwich; her companion, Richard Morehead of Preston; and sisters and brothers and their spouses: Barbara Rudnitski of Preston, Patricia and Jeff Nelson of Ohio, Ann and Don Farnham of Plymouth, and Joseph and Stephen Rudnitski, both of New Paltz. She is also survived by two grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Lucy’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Preston school house next to the Preston Fire Dept. Family and friends are welcome to attend. There will be no calling hours.
