Gerald Norris


OXFORD – Gerald (Jerry) Roy Norris, 70, formerly of Oxford, died Sept. 14, 2006 in Zephyrhills, Fla.
Gerald was born in Norwich on Jan. 13, 1936 to Marion (Grover) and Roy Norris. Gerald graduated from West Winfield High School and then went on to serve in the Air Force. Upon discharge he worked many jobs and then finally ended up working for the Oxford Post Office as a Postal Clerk until his retirement. During his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and repairing 3-wheel tricycles for the people in his retirement community. Jerry also spent much of his time as an active member of the East Pasco YMCA in Zephyrhills. His favorite pasttime was being a dad and grandpa.
Gerald is survived by his wife Marcia, Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sons Gary (Alice), Newfield, NY, and Gerald Ray (Heidi), East Pharsalia; two daughters Naomi (Curtis) Cronk, Oxford, and Diana (William) Beach, Gulfport, MS; one step-daughter Melissa (Chad) Raphael, Norwich; grandchildren: Heather, Jeffrey, and Kristen Cronk; Bradley and Joel Beach; Dylan and Joseph Norris; Kathryn Schultz, Morgyn and Lauryn Raphael; one brother, Bruce Norris, Port Crane; six sisters, Patricia Eldred, Oxford, Barbara Brigham, Earlville, Marlyn Christian, Fort Atkinson, Wisc., Nancy Beckwith, Coventry, Myra Markham, Plymouth, Linda Daniels, Boston, Mass.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Frank Norris.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oxford Emergency Squad or the East Pasco Family YMCA.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Gerald’s life at the Oxford Fire Station from 1 to 3 p..m. Sunday, Oct. 1.
