Barbara Lamphere


NORWICH – Barbara E. Lamphere, 54, lately of Endicott and Binghamton, passed away Tuesday morning, April 21, 2009, in the Bridgewater Rehabilitation Center of Binghamton.
Born in Norwich in January of 1955, Barb was the daughter of James and Patricia Davis Lamphere Sr., but was raised by her grandparents, Hazel and Stan Davis. She grew up in Norwich where she attended the local schools, and worked for a time as a nurse’s aide at the Valley View Manor Nursing Home. Barb had made her home in the Binghamton area since 1989.
Barb is survived by her children: Angel Cochran and husband Larry of Endicott, Staff Sgt. Gary Squires and wife Diane of Okinawa, Japan, Patty Squires and companion Michael Halavik of Endicott; Bambi Watermen and companion Jason, Vanessa Watermen and companion John, and Randy Watermen and companion Jackie, all of Lyle; her grandson Ijaya Watermen, whom Barb raised from an early age; and her lifelong friend, Kenneth Conklin of Endicott. Also surviving are Barb’s grandchildren: Megan, Michael, Nathanial, Devin, Chandler, Haylae, Misty, Timmy, Andy, Ondrea, Jairus, Desirae, Stacy, Christiana, Randi, Josh, Christin, Lindsey, Odell, Cameron, Madison and Shania. Survivors include Barb’s brothers and sisters: James Lamphere Jr. and wife Linda of Norwich, Clifford Ketchum and wife Kathy of Norwich, Bob Ketchum and wife Leanne of Newark Valley, Ala., Barb, Arlene, Maxine, and Mary; and Barb’s cousin, Sarah Skinner and Gordy. Barb was predeceased by her brother, Wayne, and by two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Barb will be held at noon Monday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Reese, pastor of the Columbus Community Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service at noon.
