BAINBRIDGE – Florence S. Ireland, 91, of Bainbridge went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in Norwich.
She was born daughter of the late Ralph and Myrtie (Merritt) Sherman in Afton.
Florence married Ralph O. Ireland, He predeceased her.
She was an active member of the Union Valley Methodist Church in West Bainbridge and worked as a home health care provider for many years. Florence enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also liked to sew and knit, play the piano and a good game of dominoes.
She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law,Wallace and Kathleen Ireland, Bainbridge, and Edward and Jeanne Ireland, Binghamton; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Timothy Burke, Endicott; two sisters, Lena Gifford and Mildred Stafford; two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Florence is also predeceased by a granddaughter, eight brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.
A private burial will be in West Bainbridge Cemetery at a later date.
