SHERBURNE – Jennie Cappadonia, 96, of New St., passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home, New Berlin.
She was born Dec. 31, 1912 in Norwich, a daughter of Narato and Theresa China Bonsie and received her education in local schools. On April 28, 1934, Jennie was united in marriage to Anthony F. “Tony” Cappadonia in St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne. He predeceased her on Oct. 4, 1998. Jennie was a Sherburne resident most of her life. She had worked at the Utica Knitting Mill in Sherburne, and for the Norwich Shoe Co. One of her favorite pastimes was walking around the Village, which she did until the age of 91. She was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church.
Surviving are her children, Mary and John Roberts of Sherburne; Joan and John Asma of Sherburne; Anthony and Anita Cappadonia of Earlville; Jerry and Wilma Cappadonia of Sherburne, David and Alice Cappadonia of Sherburne; and Laurentia Cappadonia of Sherburne; a brother-in-law, Stanley Klockowski of Norwich; a sister-in-law, Angelina Bonsie of Sherburne; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Cappadonia on July 30, 1993; three sisters, Lena, Katie and Rose; and two brothers, Michael and Louie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne.
Interment will be in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m.
