Scott Eaves


EARLVILLE – Scott E. Eaves, 86, of Lebanon Rd., passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at his daughter’s home in Bouckville.
He was born August 17, 1922 in Wauseon, Ohio, a son of John F. and Olive Lochbihler Eaves. He received his education in Sherburne schools and out behind the barn at the end of a hickory stick. Scott joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country as a paratrooper in World War II. On Sept. 23, 1946, he married Pauline Baker in Earlville. They made their home on their dairy farm “Eavestead,” which they operated until their retirement. Scott had previously worked at the Knitting Mill in Sherburne and Oneida Ltd. in Sherrill. Pauline predeceased him on Dec. 11, 2002.
Scott is survived by his children: Rebecca L. and David Burgess of Earlville; Jennifer and Franz Scharman of Bouckville; Donna Palmer of Earlville; Blaine and Barbara Eaves of Earlville; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Eaves of Lowville; Charles Eaves of Cobleskill; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Bob, Jack and Jim Eaves, and three sisters, Hazel Bohnert, Virginia VanVleck and Betty June Geise.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment with full military honors in the Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
