Lucille Cole


NORWICH – Lucille A. Cole, 90, of Norwich, passed away early Sunday morning, March 15, 2009, at her home.
Born in North Norwich in August of 1918, Lucy was the daughter of Jay and Gaynal Ingham Bates. A life long resident of the North Norwich and Norwich area, she had attended the local schools. On Jan. 8, 1938 in Norwich, she married Claude Cole, who passed away Feb. 6, 2007. Over the years, Lucy worked for the Norwich Pharmacal Co. working both on the line and in the cafeteria.
Dedicated to her family, she enjoyed spending time with them especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Lucy liked to knit and crochet and over the years enjoyed going camping and fishing with her husband.
Lucy is survived by her children: Ann DePew and her husband, Stanley, of Norwich, Roland Cole of North Carolina and Brenda Cole of Oxford; her sisters, Flora Pollack, Dora Bates, Alice (Perle) Beckwith and Georgia Brown, all of Norwich and her brothers, Bradley (Marjorie) Bates of Sherburne and Robert (Viola) Bates of North Norwich along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Claude, Lucy was predeceased by her sister Emily and her brothers Lawrence and Byron.
Funeral services for Lucy will be held at noon on Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the South Plymouth Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich, on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
