George Womeldorff


NORWICH – Graveside services for George M. Womeldorff, 71, who passed away May 17, 2006, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the Beaver Meadow Christian Church, will officiate.
George was born in Norwich on July 18, 1934, the son of Francis M. and Rena (Wells) Womeldorff. During World War II, George’s father, Francis, has participated in the work done by the Army Corps of Engineers in constructing the atomic bomb which hastened the end of the war. George grew up in Norwich and attended the local schools, graduating with the class of 1953. A quiet person all his life, George was a bit of a loner and was acknowledged to be very smart in school. Preferring books to sports, he was an avid reader all his life, everything from newspapers and periodicals to books on all kinds of subjects. He lived in Norwich all his life.
George is survived by his sister, Frances Gunderman of Albany, Ore. and by several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Rena.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
