Neil Watts


NORWICH – Neil E. Watts, 84, of Norwich, passed away Sunday nigh, Feb. 22, 2009, in the New York State Veterans’ Home of Oxford.
One of the three sons of Harry and Elsie Westcott Watts, Neil was born in Norwich in September of 1924. He was a 1945 graduate of the Norwich High School and later pursued a college education, but basically went into the U.S. Army right out of high school to serve his country during World War II. Returning home with his honorable discharge, Neil married Rita Morano in Norwich on Aug. 6, 1949. He had been a member of the Calvary Baptist Church since 1942, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and serving as a Deacon for the church. For 24 years, he used his artistic talent in his position with Norwich Mills, and later worked for Procter & Gamble in Quality Control for 18 years. Neil was a man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he liked to hunt.
Neil is survived by his wife, Rita Watts of Norwich, and his children and their spouses: Lynette and Daniel Sepello of Sherburne, Suzanne and Doug Kraus of Whitestown, and Michelle Watts of Clarks Summit, Pa. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Carrie Ostrander, Courtney Sepello, and Daniel and Lauren Kraus, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Robert.
Funeral services for Neil will be held at noon Thursday from the Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev. Brian Conover, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Whitestore. Friends are invited to call at the Calvary Baptist Church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until noon.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
