NORWICH – Joseph W. (Jack) Shaffer, 82, of Norwich and formerly of Greene, died on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Shaffer and Loretta Shaffer Baker and by stepfather, Clair Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lobdell Shaffer. He is the father of William, Joann, Madeline, David, Gilbert, Judy, Joseph and James; stepfather of Vernon Jr., Stephen and Matthew Smith and Katherine Funnell. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and special friend, Terry Manwarren and family. Jack was a well known auto mechanic.
Funeral and committal services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St., Greene, NY 13778. Burial will be in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene, in the spring.
Friends of the family may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Root Funeral Home.
