Albert Bosworth


NORWICH – Mr. Albert Foster Bosworth, 78, of China Grove, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at Carolina Medical Center in Concord, N.C.
Born August 3, 1930 in Norwich, he was the son of the late Louis P. Bosworth and Verna Money Bosworth. He graduated Norwich High School in 1949, and received his Bachelor degree in Business Management from Oklahoma State University in 1958 where he also was a member of Theta Chi. He was a high school business teacher for 24 years in the New Berlin Central Schools.
Mr. Bosworth served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, being stationed on the USS Sibonnet as a radio operator.
He was past president of the Norwich Kiwanis Club, past Exalted Ruler of BPOE Elks #1222, a long time member of the Canasawacta Country Club, and was a research patient at Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute, which added 37 years to his life after receiving the new experimental treatment that was offered to him.
Mr. Bosworth was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frances “Pete” Bosworth; and a daughter, Brenda Ann Bosworth.
Those left to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, Doris VanEvera Bosworth, whom he married on December 29, 1956; a daughter, Sandra Bosworth Eaton and husband Melvin, of China Grove; grandchildren, Kara Eaton and Ryan Eaton, of China Grove, and Megan Burgess and husband Nathan, of Landis; and brothers-in-law, Willard VanEvera, and Robert VanEvera, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 7 at Prospect Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joanne Hull officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
