SHERBURNE – Charles “Butch” Johnson, 61, of North Road, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2009, with his loving family by his side, at Hamilton’s Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1947, in Rome, the son of the late Frederick and Viola Clark Johnson. On March 16, 1974, he married Helen Wheeler. Butch had been a tractor trailer driver for many years, and an auto mechanic his whole life. In the past several years, he worked at Hamilton Auto Clinic.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Helen, a son , Brian (Melissa) Johnson of Sherburne, a daughter, Connie (Aaron) Forward, of Bouckville; five grandchildren, two bothers, Earl “Rocky” (Deana) Johnson of Sherburne, and Donald (Amy) Johnson of Hubbardsville; two sisters, Trudy (Frank) Brady of Norwich, and Betsy (Ken) Reid of Sherburne. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. Spring interment will be in North Norwich Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home, 3592 South Street, in Madison, on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
