Michael Pasachnik


 SHERBURNE – Michael F. Pasachnik, 86, of Summit St., passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
He was born March 19, 1922 in New York City, a son of Fred and Tyne Baranowski Pasachnik, and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. Mike proudly served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations from 1942 to 1946. On Dec. 5, 1953, he married Helen Kenyon in Sherburne. A Sherburne resident most of his life, Mike held long standing positions with both Bennett-Ireland and Procter & Gamble in Norwich. He was of the Episcopal faith. Mike enjoyed a lifelong interest in wildlife and conservation. Feeding the birds and squirrels brought him great pleasure in the last few years. He will be dearly missed by both family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Helen; two daughters, Susan Pasachnik of Hamilton and Linda Pasachnik of New York City; a granddaughter, Stesha Pasachnik of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Brunskill of Wyoming; a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Margie Pasachnik of Sherburne; several nieces and nephews, including Jamie Moore and Wendy Wright, both of Norwich; several grandnieces and nephews including Logan, Noah and Dustin. He was predeceased by a sister, Annie VanWie, and two brothers Joseph and Wladick Pasachnik.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
Interment with military honors will be held in the Episcopal Church Cemetery, Sherburne in the spring.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
