NORWICH – Ruth Dora Warrington Benenati, 85, of Littleton, N.C., passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at the Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
Mrs. Benenati graduated in the Class of 1942 from Essex Junction High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force on March 8, 1944. She was discharged on Dec. 8, 1945 and awarded the American Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal. She retired from Federal Civil Service after 33 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Warrington, USA Retired, and Ila Mae Warrington; her sister, Shirley Major; brothers Norman Warrington and Owen Lafley. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Joseph Benenati.
Inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at the Arlington National Cemetery.
