Rosie Moon


NORWICH – Rosie J. Moon, 69, of Norwich, went to her heavenly home Thursday evening, Jan. 22, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital of Utica.
The daughter of William and Rosie Baker Hollenbeck, Rosie was born in September of 1939 in New Woodstock, and attended school in Gilbertsville.
A very active and busy lady, Rosie never sat still. Always willing to help others and a hard worker, she was employed for 36 years by Champion Products, followed by eight years with the Blueox Corp. Rosie enjoyed camping, car racing, boating, and bowling, and was a very active life member and Past President of the VFW Post 2782 Ladies Auxiliary. A member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, Rosie had been active within the church. Above all else, she loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
On July 24,1982, in Norwich, she married David Moon, who passed away July 11, 2007.
Rosie is survived by her mother, Rosie Camp of Gilbertsville; her children: Rose Hubbard and husband Butch of Oneonta, Paul Potter and wife Tern of Sherburne, Dwight Potter of Pennsylvania, Karen Pope and fiancé’ Tim Freer of Guilford, Vickie Dionne and husband Roger of Massachusetts, Grace Grey of Ithaca, Theresa Boland of Weedsport, and John Richards Jr. of Norwich. Also surviving are her sisters, Shirley Hollenbeck of Massachusetts, and Hazel Kitchen and husband Roger of Verona; and her brother, Robert Hollenbeck Sr. of Gilbertsville. Eighteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friend Margaret Davis also survive.
Besides her husband David, Rosie was predeceased by her brother, James Hollenbeck, and granddaughter, Christie Grey.
Memorial services for Rosie will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Broad Street United Methodist Church of Norwich. The Rev. Jeff Hale, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the North Norwich Cemetery.
