SAGINAW, Mich. – Carmen S. Spadaro, 74, longtime Hemlock school administrator and teacher passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Cartwright Care Center.
The son of the late Joseph and Josephine Spadaro, Carmen was born March 9, 1934 in Norwich. He was a graduate of the Unviersity of Michigan, School of Music, receiving both a bachelor and master degrees. He also had an Education Specialist degree from Central Michigan Univeristy.
Carmen married Kay Jean LaDouceur, July 2, 1960. She passed away Sept. 14, 1983. He taught music in the Harper Woods School System. He retired from the Hemlock School System where he had taught Band, Adult Education and Woodworking and had served as Principal and Administrator with 30 years of service. He served with the U.S. Army Band. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Phi Delta Kappa International, Hemlock Lion’s Club and Jaycees. Carmen served on the board of directors of the Saginaw County Employees Credit Union and as a Trustee of Richland Twp.
Surviving are three sons, one daughter and their spouses, Michael and Manon Spadaro, Highland Park, Ill.; Joseph and Cynthia Spadaro, Brooklyn; Sarah and Steven Sella, Gaylord, Mich.; Stephen Spadaro, Saginaw, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Remy and Mathew Spadaro; Alexis, Emily and Kyle Spadaro; Sydney and Nicholas Sella and his best friend, Kathleen Baumann. Four sisters, their husbands and a sister-in-law also survive Carmen. Mary D’Angelo and Molly Garito of Norwich; Bart Garito of the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford; Dolly and Sam DiNoto of Bainbridge; Theresa and Tony Zieno of Sidney and Rose Spadaro of Carnegie, Pa. along with several nieces, cousins and nephews from New York, Maine, Mass., Calif. and Va.
Two brothers, John and Anthony Spadara, have predeceased him.
