Daisy Mae Brown


NORWICH – Daisy Mae Brown, 79, of Norwich, passed away early Christmas morning (Dec. 25, 2008) in the Wilson Regional Hospital of Johnson City.
Born in Lisle in July of 1929, Daisy was the daughter of Walter and Mary (Jones) Pierce. She attended grade school in Whitney Point and high school in Greene, graduating in 1948 from Greene Central. On Sept. 12, 1948, in Greene, she married Donald C. Brown, with whom she had recently celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary. Daisy was a devoted wife for her husband and a loving mother and grandmother.
Daisy worked for several years at Bennett-Ireland, then took employment with Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals, where she worked in word processing. She retired from its successor, Proctor & Gamble, in May of 1989 after over 26 years of service to the company. She loved to travel all over the USA, and to spend summers at Lake George. A member of Norwich-Eaton’s Quarter Century Service Club, she was also a member of the Broad St. United Methodist Church.
Daisy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Brown of Norwich, and by her children: David Brown and wife Theresa of Norwich, Doris Fehringer and husband Steve of Gettysburg, Pa., and Donna Brown of Pownal, Maine. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew Brown of Sterling, Va., Melissa Brown of Milwaukee, Wi., Adrienne and Ashley Fehringer, both of Gettysburg, and Lee and Anna Brown of Pownal; and by her sisters: Carol Pope of Earlville and Esther Nordberg of Oneonta. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Kenneth and Roger Pierce.
Funeral services for Daisy will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 30, from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich. The Rev. Jeff Hale, Pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetry. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the services.
