Rosalie Searles


NEW BERLIN – Rosalie “Marie” Searles, 49, of New Berlin, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in South New Berlin.
The daughter of Stewart and Ruth Huggins Stacy, Marie was born in Carthage, in January of 1959. She grew up in the Utica and Norwich areas, attending school in both of their school systems. She had held jobs as a waitress for the Blue Bird Restaurant in Norwich and the Deer Path in South Edmeston, and had also been employed by CWS in Norwich and the Deer Man in South Edmeston. Marie was currently working for Agro-Farma in South Edmeston. A person who was always on the move, she could do almost anything. She especially enjoyed doing crafts, was a “bingo freak” and could often be found at Turning Stone Casino.
Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stacie and James Brazee of Norwich; and by her grandchildren, Ashley Smith and Desirea and Jessie Brazee. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Lanfair and husband Arthur of Norwich, and Becky Aikins of Ariz.; her brothers and their wives, Jack and Polly Burnett of Amsterdam, Danny and Rosemary Stacy of Norwich, Robin and Cindy Stacy of Unadilla, Pat and Stacey Stacy of Niagra Falls and John Stacy of Norwich; several nieces and nephews; and by her companion, Theodore Canfield of New Berlin and his mother, Carol Rogers of South Edmeston. Marie was predeceased by her brother Charles Aikins.
A memorial service will be held for Marie at noon on Monday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford of Norwich will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Scribner Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Monday at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
