Jennie Larner


SHERBURNE – Jennie Dzwonkas Larner, 87, of Chenango Ave., passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
She was born June 22, 1921 in Utica, a daughter of Anthony and Antoinette Grigas Dzwonkas, and received her education in Westmoreland schools. On Nov. 24, 1946, Jennie was married to David P. Larner in Westmoreland. Their loving union of 38 years ended when he predeceased her in 1984. The Larners made their home in Dannemora and South Otselic prior to moving to Sherburne in 1962. Jennie had worked for General Cable in Westmoreland for many years, and then for TACO in Sherburne until her retirement in 1984.
Jennie was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne where she was a member of the choir and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary in Sherburne.
Surviving are a son, Thomas D. Larner of Rochester, N.H.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and James Deaver of Fort Walton Beach, Fla; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes and William Cochis of Whitinsville, Mass.; Bernice and Willis “Buddy” Logan of Rome; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Nancy Diamond of Sherburne; Albert “Pete” and Carolyn Dzwonkas, Bernard and Kay Dzwonkas, all of Whitesboro; Anthony “Tony” and Judy Dzwonkas of Brantingham; a son-in-law, Kevin Christensen of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother-in-law, Norman Beauchemin of Dannemora; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Nan Larner (Christensen), and three sisters, Antoinette Beauchemin, Della Marcaitis and Albina Dzwonkas predeceased her.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. George’s Cemetery, Whitesboro.
Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
The Rosary will be recited at 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, Jennie’s family has requested that contributions be made to St. Malachy’s Church, PO Box 722, Sherburne, NY 13460.
