Thelma Nicholson


OXFORD – Thelma “Chub” Nicholson, 85, of Oxford passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008 at Valley View Manor Nursing Home. She was born on Oct. 5, 1923 in Plymouth, the daughter of the late Merton and Florence (Newton) Hinckley. 
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Burton Nicholson of Oxford; and her sister, Gladys Biviano of North Carolina. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, her son, Gary Nicholson, and her brothers, Robert Hinckley and William Hinckley.
Thelma was a member of the United Church of Oxford. She had worked in the cafeteria of Oxford Academy and Central School and the Corner Shop Restaurant. For many years she worked in the jewelry department of Jamesway in Norwich. She was very creative and loved arts and crafts. She also loved to cook.
Following her request, there will be no funeral service or visiting hours.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department Emergency Squad, PO Box 172, Oxford, NY 13830.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
