Scott Potter


PITCHER – Scott Michael Potter, 53, of Pitcher, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at his home.
Scott was born in Cortland, on Feb. 16, 1953, a son of Robert and Beverly Moore Potter.  He was an ultra-light flight instructor for the past 25 years, most recently with Final Approach in Phoenix, Ariz. He was also employed at the Cincinnatus True Value. Prior to that, he worked at Baker Miller Lumber Co. and for Bob Potter Milk Hauling. One of Scott’s true enjoyments in his life was being in the outdoors.  He enjoyed taking walks and deeply appreciated the beauty of nature and all the splendor it has to offer. A loving husband, father, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Catherine Lee Potter of Pitcher; his children, Brendon Scott Potter of Oneida, K.C. Potter of Mesa, Ariz., and Justin Scott Potter of Mesa, Ariz.  He is also survived by “man’s best friend,” Goldie Potter. In addition, Scott leaves behind his mothers, Beverly Cox of Mesa, AZ, and Nancy Byron of Cortland; his siblings, Diane Haymaker of Chandler, Ariz., Greg (Josette) Potter of Moravia, Brad (Tina) Potter of Goodyear, Ariz., Carol (Gary) Miller of Moravia, Carl (Nonie) Kellogg of Smithfield, Va., Todd (Dottie) Potter of Mukilteo, WA, and Donald (Steph) Potter of Smithfield, Va.  He is also survived by a special uncle, Clifford Moore, of Cicero, his in-laws, Jack and Camilla Cobb of Pitcher, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Robert Eugene Potter; a brother, Patrick Potter; and a sister, Linda Hawley.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
