SHERBURNE – Leona S. McHenry, 93, of Sherburne, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at Chenango Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility, Norwich.
Born Jan. 19, 1915 in the Town of Butternuts, she was a daughter of Milton and Irene Carvin Barber and attended local schools. Leona was married to Castle C. McHenry who predeceased her. She had worked at the Norwich Shoe Co. for many years until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Surviving are her son, Castle “Chip” McHenry of West Virginia; a sister, Letha Padgett of Oregon; several grandchildren including, Penny (Glenn) Hamilton of Sherburne; Barry Wilcox of North Carolina; Ed (Sue) McHenry of Sidney; Wayne (Deb) McHenry of Unadilla; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A daughter, Shirley Ann Wilcox, a son, Philip McHenry, and a brother, Louis Barber predeceased her.
In keeping with Leona’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
