Rosalyn Rasmussen


GEORGETOWN – Rosalyn E. Rasmussen, 69, of Upham Rd., went to be with her Savior Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.
She was born Sept. 10, 1939 in Poolville, a daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy Brown Parkhurst, and was a graduate of Georgetown High School. On Dec. 27, 1955, Rosalyn was married to Donald R. Rasmussen in Georgetown. Their loving union lasted almost 42 years until he predeceased her on July 15, 1997. Rosalyn was a warm and beautiful person, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will always be remembered for her selfless service to her family, friends and anyone in need. She was the President of Rasmussen Excavating, Inc., working in that capacity until her death. She was also an accomplished baker who, along with her granddaughters made and sold pies and baked goods at the Hamilton Farmers Market.
Mrs. Rasmussen was an active member of the West Smyrna Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, and served as the treasurer of the Sunday school. She was a member of the choir and the Ladies Missionary Fellowship, and was also the former custodian of the church. She was the treasurer of the Georgetown Hillside Cemetery Association; the treasurer of the Georgetown Youth Assoc.; and a member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she was active in the fund raising campaign for many years.
Surviving are her children: David and Rebecca Rasmussen, Cindy Martin, Susan Duell, Jill and James “Pete” Reichard, Judy and Jay Lyon, all of Georgetown; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Claire and Sharon Parkhurst of South Otselic, Chris and Barbara Parkhurst of Georgetown. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Carl Landon Rasmussen; Troy and Brenton Donald Rasmussen; Brian, Alisia and Michael Martin; Sara Fink; Leah and Jeff Ege; Taylor and Adam Duell; Rebecca McCredy; Travis, Rachael, Gabrielle, Esther, Jonathan, Mary Beth, Micah, Lily, Levi and Susannah Lyon; Zachary and Erica Reichard; Hannah, Naomi, Elisabeth, Grace, Timothy, Titus and Victoria Reichard; and her great-grandchildren, Troy Thomas Miller II; Jenna, Olivia and Colton Ege; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Richard Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the West Smyrna Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Lawrence officiating.
Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Georgetown.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
