Gladys Wynn


SMYRNA – Gladys R. Wynn, 96, of Route 80, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at the Crouse Community Center, Morrisville.
She was born Dec. 25, 1911 in Smyrna, a daughter of Clayton and Tacie Barber Campbell. She was a graduate of Georgetown High School and the Morrisville Normal School. On Sept. 9, 1931, Gladys married Charles A. Wynn in Georgetown. He predeceased her on Jan. 22, 1984. Gladys taught in the local district schoolhouses for a brief time, and then helped her husband with the operation of their farm. Gladys enjoyed hunting until the age of 89. She was a member of the West Smyrna Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Surviving are her children, Calvin Wynn of Smyrna; Geraldine and Joseph Day of Smyrna; a foster son, Robert and Lois Angle of Otselic; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Leona Campbell and a daughter-in-law, Loretta Wynn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the West Smyrna Baptist Church.
Burial in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the West Smyrna Baptist Church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
