Dolores Desalvatore


NORWICH – Dolores L. DeSalvatore, 77, of Sunset Drive, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2008 in the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born June 18, 1931 in Oneonta, Dolores was the daughter of Ozias and Rose (LaBombard) Boyea.  She graduated from Oneonta High School with the Class of 1948.  On June 4, 1950, in Oneonta, Dolores married Nicholas L. DeSalvatore, who survives. 
Dolores was devoted to raising her children and therein became known as a professional volunteer.  She was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church and a past president of the Ave Maria Guild of the church.  She helped in many of the church dinners as well as the Open Circle Dinners of the other local churches.  Dolores was also very active in the Norwich Band Parents.  She loved to cook and will be remembered for her special baked goods.
In addition to her husband, Nick, of Norwich, Dolores is survived by her children and their spouses, Suzanne and James Tompkins of Baldwinsville and Nicholas and Colleen DeSalvatore Jr. of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Dominick and Vincent DeSalvatore of Syracuse and Andrew Tompkins and his wife, Kate of Pittsford.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  Dolores was predeceased by a brother, Russell Boyea and a sister, Marion Purvis.
Friends called at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.  A Mass of Resurrection for Dolores was held today, Nov. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church.  Burial followed in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Contributions in memory of Dolores may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Bartholomew’s Church.
