David Stoddard


SIDNEY – David Wayne Stoddard, born Nov. 25, 1942, died unexpectedly, at the M.I. Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, on Oct. 29, 2008. 
He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Bailey Stoddard and by his mother, Bernice Victoria Howe Stoddard. 
David graduated in 1960 from Sidney High School.  He attended Rennselear Polytechnic Institute, Broome Tech Community College and Rochester Institute of Technology. He was employed as an electrical engineer for Xerox, and then Stromberg-Carlson in Rochester for 21 years. He moved to Texas and was employed by Digital Switch when he retired. David has always been more generous to others than to himself, contributing to many causes he believed in.  His generosity continued even after death, donating his corneas for transplant. 
David is survived by his only sister, Karen Stoddard, Sidney; aunt, Doris Fahy, Sidney; and three first cousins:  Richard Howe, Conway, Ark., Robert Howe, Bern, N.C., and Nancy Malone, Jersey City, N.J.  He will also be missed by his feline companions. 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Sidney United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Sidney with Rev. Barbara Green officiating.  Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society 101 East Main Street Sidney, NY 13838.
