Rose Mcconnell


NORWICH – Rose McConnell, 80, of Scottsdale, Ariz. passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Nov. 12, 2008. 
A Phoenix native, Rose was born on Nov. 1, 1928, the daughter of Faustino and Carmen (Careaga) Cornejo. She graduated from Chandler High School in 1948.  On Feb. 7, 1952 she married Thomas A. McConnell in St. Mary’s Church in Chandler. 
Rose was a retired library aide from Perry Browne elementary School in Norwich. While residing in Norwich, Rose was an active member of The Norwich Night Owls. While attending St. Paul’s Church in Norwich, Rose was an active choir member. Returning to Arizona in 1993 following retirement, Rose became a library volunteer at Navajo Elementary School in Scottsdale. In later years she became a member of a local musical group called The Broadway Babies of Scottsdale. An avid reader and gardener, Rose took pride in her flowers and enjoyed mystery books. 
Surviving are husband, Tom; daughter Kathy and her husband Norman Pih of Flagstaff, daughter Karen and husband Tom Atten with granddaughters Mya Rose Atten and Leah Marie Atten of West Columbia, S.C. and daughter Karyl Clark of Seattle, Wash. 
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale. 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014 or the Arizona Humane Society, 1521 W. Dobbins Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85041.
