Linda Lamphere


NORWICH – Linda S. Lamphere, 59, of Norwich, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
Born in July of 1949 in Towanda, Pa., Linda was the daughter of Lowell and Eva Lee Collins Goodwin. As a young girl, Linda had lived in many areas of Pennsylvania and New York, having attended school locally in Morris and New Berlin. On March 31, 1964 in Washington, D.C., she married Thomas Lamphere, who survives. Over the years Linda had been employed by the Norwich Shoe Co., the Norwich Knitting Mill, Valley View Manor Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide and the Bluebird Restaurant as a waitress.
An energetic, hardworking person, Linda would always be looking for something to do. It was this trait which led she and her husband into the operation of the Unique Boutique Antique Shop in South New Berlin. Together they bought, sold and refinished antiques for many years.
Linda is survived by her husband Thomas of Norwich; her mother, Eva Lee Goodwin of Potterville, Pa.; her children: Lorry Lamphere of North Norwich and Thomas (Sue) Lamphere Jr. of Oxford; her grandchildren: Eric (Joanna) Bishop of East Pharsalia, Chris Bishop and girlfriend Karen Gordon of North Norwich and Jacob Lamphere of Oxford; and her great-grandchildren, Eric Bishop Jr. and Dallas Bishop. Also surviving are her sisters, Donna (James) Rook of Wetumpka, Ala., Sharon Marshall of Potterville, Pa., Dawn (Paul) Heckmann of Knoxville, Tenn., Peggy (Jerry) Ebel of Newfield, Bonnie Campbell of Milan, Pa., Kathy (Bruce) Convert of Watkins Glen, Virginia (Eric) Thoman of Potterville; her brothers, Marvin (Sue) Goodwin of Binghamton, Don (Mary ‘Midge’) Goodwin of Big Pond, Pa., Allen Goodwin of Potterville, Pa., and Dale Hamm, also of Potterville, Pa. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive, and last but not least, her dog, Dino. Linda was predeceased by her father Lowell Goodwin, her sister Cindy Goodwin and her brother, James Goodwin.
Funeral services for Linda will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Romeyn Kipp, pastor of the Holmesville Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
