Grace Clark


EDMESTON – Grace S. Clark, 92, of Edmeston, died peacefully on Thursday Nov. 6, 2008 at Chase Nursing Home with her beloved family at her side.
She was born Aug. 29, 1916 in Gardentown, the daughter of Harry C. and Clara (Bryant) Sargent. She married Lynwood E. Clark at the Mount Vision Baptist Church on June 15, 1937 He predeceased her on June 14, 1980.
Grace was an outstanding member of the Second Baptist Church in Edmeston, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, Treasurer, and the American Baptist Women group. Like most people of her time she had a strong work ethic, over her years she work at Kraft Foods, the Otsego School, and Pathfinder Village retiring from there at the age of 70. She also volunteered the Senior Citizens Club, and had served as Treasurer for the Wharton Valley Grange. One of the best ways to remember Grace was her affectionate love of family, her community, and her appreciation of flowers.
Her children and their spouses Yvonne C. and Ronald Steward, Elaine M. and Richard Gage, Wayne R. and Patricia Clark, Vaughn G. and Debbie Clark; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren; her brother Warren Sargent survive Glace.
Grace was also predeceased by her son Philip L. Clark, her brother Harold Sargent, and here two sisters Alma Stanton Persons and Gladys Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held at noon Monday at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home Edmeston, with Rev. Ray Merrit officiating. Calling hour are 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service on Monday.
Interment will be at Edmeston Union Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grace’s name to Second Baptist Church Hospice or the Edmeston Emergency Squad. Envelopes will be available during calling hours at the Church.
